Her presence still as captivating as the day I first met her. As often is the case, people don’t know the strength and beauty they possess. There’s something about her, a breadth and depth to her soul, and inner strength that stands against all social norms. It’s in her lust for life, the way she talks about the things she loves, it’s as if her dreams of wonder live in her every word and every motion so that you can’t help but see the world new, illuminated. She speaks without fear of indifference or ridicule. It is women like her that her that bring the world to it’s knees.
Thank you for giving me the honor to watch you grow into one of the most beautiful human beings I have ever known. Thank you for inspiring me to greater heights and accepting all the crazy that comes with me. Thank you for turning on the light when all I see is darkness.
But most of all thank you for being you.
Walk the cobble
Mask, down it goes
An empty station
Feel the earth move below your feet
Gliding along rustic metal
The wind touching my face
Long lost love standing within an ocean
See the red door
In the light
Through the maze
Fall deeper evergreen
Old owl circling
Face the rain
Waters wash away
Follow the light
No more night.
With a blink of an eye and a flash of a moment our lives change. All around us is living proof of change. We are proof. All have claimed to embrace it, myself included, yet we fight so hard to prevent it. We will not accept that maybe the person next to us might not be around forever, are we too scared to try live a life without them? When will we let go of that job that makes us feel worthless and drains us, we make endless excuses so as not face up to inevitable change.
We fill our lives with objects and living things to distract us from the void within us all. Are we to scared to be alone? Are we afraid to be left alone with our thoughts? Would it consume us? Or do we fear something far greater? I have fought change and yet i have come to embrace it. I have cried a thousand tears in hopes of reversing the cycle of change. Yet change is a force of nature why do we not chose to live alongside change to become change, for what are we if not change?
I spent the many years of my life fearing change, fighting change and yet change bests us all. One day you’re so mad in love and you’ll feel that your love is eternal, you’ll feel unstoppable, you’ll feel like your love can endure anything and yet even love is change. Once love’s illusion falls away only two very different people remain, all you’ll want to do is change time, to change the circumstances and change the words so that the illusion remains forever.
Change is inevitable, it is the fundamental force that make us who we are.
"See the way she walks
Hear the way she talks"
"You're put down in her book
You're number thirty seven, have a look"
"She's going to smile to make you frown, what a clown
Little boy, she's from the street
Before you start, you're already beat
She's gonna play you for a fool, yes it's true"
"Cause everybody knows . . ."
lyrics by The Velvet Underground.
It seems like only yesterday I said goodbye to my life in Sydney. Love lost, love found, friendships gained and memories made. I am not the same girl with the big naive eyes. My eyes grew bigger in their lust for life. As a child I moved around a lot, leaving one life to start another. It has changed me in ways I have come to be thankful for. I have no place or country to call home, yes, but I belong to something bigger with endless opportunities and possibilities. I belong to the world. I always tell myself never to look back. The present is here, not there and the future might not be here who knows where?
